A S Club 7 reunion could be on the cards, it has been revealed this week. Jon Lee, who grew up in Teignbridge and was part of the chart-topping band, said that the whole group recently met up for drinks last week. He got together with former band mates Tina Barrett, Paul Cattermole, Bradley McIntosh, Jo O’Meara, Hannah Spearritt and Rachel Stevens
“The press keeps going on about us touring but nothing has been confirmed,” he said. “Nothing has been ruled out though. We’re waiting for the right time and what’s right for us. “Rachel has just had another baby and we all need to be in the same space as we have other commitments. “It was nice to see everyone last week and we slipped back into how things used to be and the old jokes started very quickly.”
The pop act enjoyed massive success in the late 90s and enjoyed four UK number one hits and sold more than seventeen million albums worldwide before splitting in April 2003. “I’m dead proud of what we achieved,” he said. “It was the biggest job I’ve ever done. It doesn’t feel like it was 11 years ago we split up. “I spent what would have been my college years standing on stage performing in front of thousands.” Jon Lee grew up in the Newton Abbot area and attended Coombeshead Academy.
After S Club 7 split, he went on to carve a successful career on stage in Les Miserables, Love Shack and Jersey Boys. He’s also gone on to record a solo album Fallen Angel. He got his break when he was cast as the lead in Oliver! in London’s West End.
