A university student from Locks Heath has been short-listed in a competition to interview an S Club 7 star.
Lauren Heno, a former Brookfield pupil who studies journalism at the University of Portsmouth, has been chosen as one of eight finalists in the running to interview Tina Barrett. The 18-year-old first year student beat hundreds of other entrants in the competition Singderella, a music and entertainment website that offers student journalists in the UK the chance to interview the popstar. “The chance to interview someone like Tina Barrett would be really good,” said Lauren, who lives in Priory Park. “When I was little they were quite a big band and I used to listen to them. Because she’s quite famous, interviewing her would give me a lot of skills and as a student she could be able to give me some advice on interviewing famous people.” Tina has been off the music scene for several years but has returned with new single Fire and is working on an album that is due to be released in 2013. The entrants had to write 200 words on why they should be able to interview Tina. The winner will enjoy a light buffet lunch and then a private interview and chat with Tina in the Ice Bar in London in January. The final stage of the competition is a public vote off and the deadline is 6pm next Friday (December 7).
